Chloe saying her colors
Chloe saying her shapes
When I became a mom, I wanted nothing but the best life for my baby girl. I was thankful to have spent 12 weeks home with her on maternity leave but was so sad to have to go back to work for 6 more months until summer break. Those 6 months, were loooong and hard, I had a difficult time
Managing everything because I always put 💯 percent in everything I do. So I wanted the best for my 22 students but I also wanted the best for my baby girl. Plus considering I was doing majority of the mom/wife duties at home I was exhausted and felt like I wasn’t able to give Chloe all of me. That’s why I was happy to be able to have the opportunity to stay home with Chloe. Although I miss the “art of teaching” (not all the BS that comes with it) I’m thankful that I am able to transfer my teaching skills and focus my time on Chloe.
Chloe is almost 2 years old, since she was a baby we’ve read books every night. Right now we read 3 books a night and I love seeing her love for books. Chloe is a huge Mickey Mouse fan so a lot of her books have Mickey in them. That is why I was so excited to find these learning books that have Mickey Mouse drawings. You can see that she enjoys the bright colors and the characters. She’s able to identify and say/read all the shapes in the books. We’ve practiced them several times and when we are out in the “real world” I point out the shapes to her as well. What’s funny is we were in the bathroom someplace and the tile on the floor was a shape, I kept hearing her say momma “pppepagon” Pentagon, at first I was like what??? Then I looked down and realized what she was saying.
I remember always telling my school parents to use their surroundings to help your child learn. Well here I am doing it now, and I love that she’s picking it up on her own now too.
Same thing goes for the Mickey color book, she loves pointing to all the colors and saying them. It just amazes me how much she soaks in.
Once i realized Chloe was able to identify the shapes we moved on to our Montessori toys from @Skoolzy that my sis got us. Chloe already loves opening and closing things so I knew these would be perfect to play with. Using these toys she able to see the shapes or the colors, and she says it out loud and matches them. At times she has some Issues closing them but I tell her her “turn it, turn it” and she does and she get so excited when she completes the task.
These are just 3 of my go to learning books/tools for Chloe. I would highly recommend you get a copy of the Mickey Mouse My first Book Set on amazon here here, and you can find the the Montessori toys here. I hope your child will have success with them also.
As a teacher and mommy Chloe makes me so proud, I love that she enjoys learning and I love that I’m able to give her my time and attention to help her to succeed. Being a mom is full time job, it can be exhausting and overwhelming and you basically feel like your failing 50% of the time but then moments like the bathroom incident happen (finding the pentagon tile) and you realize, “hey Momma, you’re doing alright.”
Hang In there mommas, you may not get the recognition you deserve but I see you and you’re doing great!
